I took this week off from pretty much everything because last week was such a whirlwind. My husband is off work this week - so we've been doing things around the house and cleaning up all the Christmas stuff.........we've taken Jake to the park, the Children's museum - tomorrow is Chuck-e-cheese (much to my husband's dismay!) and then Friday - maybe the zoo......Jake has been going stir crazy because he is use to his schedule and being home for two weeks is NOT to his liking!
One of the things I've been doing is contemplating this upcoming year. I want this year to be a great one!!! Not that this past year wasn't - but I have an expectation for this year - spiritually and physically. I don't set goals because they ALWAYS get broken - but, I do create a LIST (surprise, surprise!).....here is what it looks like so far (these are in NO particular order)
Lose weight (of course - what's a new year without this one?)
Go to the gym more (see above)
Spend more time with family (ok - you guys don't pass out!)....this includes all of you - so beware - I'm going to come a knockin'
Expand prayer time
More service time(I say this because most of my time is spent in the Sunday school classrooms)
Lose weight (wait - did I say that already)
Spend more time with Jake and his classroom work - i.e. work on his fine motor skills
Learn how to "blend" veggies with food to trick Jake into eating more healthy
Lose weight - lose weight - lose weight - lose weight - ok - you get my point!
The biggest thing on my list is what my friend Angie has challenged me to do with her - it's from Beth Moore and I know it could be beneficial to all of us.......it's memorizing scriptures together - but in a creative, accountability way. Check out her website - we would welcome any more of you that would like to take on this challenge.... http://livingproofministries.blogspot.com/2008/12/anybody-game.html - I don't know if this link will work - if not, just go to www.livingproofministries.blogspot.com and walk through the blog.
Finally, our New Year's eve is going to be spent with some good friends of ours for dinner at our home and then New Year's day is dinner with the in-laws. Hope whatever your plans are - you are safe and secure! Be Blessed this New Years.

Karen, I LOVE your list! I know you will check off most if not all of that list! I also, love Beth Moore's stuff.
On a similar note - have you thought of going to Girls Night Out at Champions Forest Baptist Church? I have been looking at it. I think it would be a neat thing to do.
Karen, I have a gut feeling that you will meet your goals. You are relly good at that. I have a few goals myself that I hope to meet.
With weight loss being one of mine.
I laughed and said I need to fast for 30 days and maybe that would help me more ways than one.....Of course I am teasing about that.
I do hope to get my prorities in place this year! I have already been thinking about a monthly birthday party for all of you guys and that would help us to be together more as a family and I can host those with some good ole southern cooking....... I may aim for that one or at least every other month and cover two months at a time. I guess I better get my list out.....LOL
love,
Shirley
Hey Karen!! You commented on my blog last night and I wanted to reply! Of course I know you!! With Kidron's birth and surgery we had those several times of WAITING together in the waiting room!! Then we have heard of you often since through Kelly and Gayla with the birth of your son! Of which we are so thankful for!! God bless and thanks so much for commenting! I pray that your new year is wonderfully blessed!!
