continuing the devotion "Intimacy with God" - this is coming once again from the Devotional bible for women called "becoming"...............
"I have often wondered what it would be like to be 100 percent steady in spending time loving the Lord. It seems that in this freeway-fast lifestyle of microwaves and airplanes, there's not much that points to simply being with him.
Each day is a choice, an investment. There have been days that I've given God much of my heart; other days, it's been pennies' worth. This sheepish soul of mine is learning that it is not in the doing with (or for) Christ so much as it is in the being with Christ that matters most to him. If you are like me, you never pray harder or listen more for God's voice than when you are broken. Tough situations often bring us to our knees. But what about when life is ironed out a bit?
God offers steady love in a chaotic world. Cars crash, people fall in love, children grow up, gas prices increase - so much of the life changes about us, but not the Father. And, while a daily quiet time with Christ is important, God wants so much more than a simple "check-marks-the-spot" quiet time. Whether it's quick prayers throughout the day, a verse read before going to bed or a great coffee conversation with a friend about what Heaven is teaching you in this life, you have spent time conversing with Jesus.
In the midst of all the chaos, know that looking up is the best choice when you need a moment of quiet. God speaks in the mundane tasks of life as well as in the vibrant mountaintop experiences. Jesus wants to be with you (and me) today.
Think about it: What are the pressures that keep you from time with Jesus? Think about the times you've been "doing" more than "being" with Christ. what steps can you take to enlarge the "being" side of that relationship?
Scriptures to read: Isaiah 40:29-31 (God's strength for us). 1 Timothy 6:11-16 (proactive living) and Esther 4:12-14 (purpose).
be blessed today.
