wow - it's been a very busy, but GREAT Easter weekend.......
Friday night - was relaxing - we actually stayed home and had family movie night. We watched the old movie - Herbie, which is about a Volkswagen that is a race car - it's very cute! Jake loved it. We have decided that every Friday night will be movie night - gives us the chance to hang out together and eat popcorn, m&m's (yes, Carla - we mix the two of them together!) and watch a kids movie......even daddy had a great time!
Saturday - we were up and at 'em. We took Jake to the neighborhood Easter egg hunt (which wasn't all that great - but we can say we went once and that is it - at least until Jake is old enough to read the signs and wants to go again!) The problem is I'm so used to stuff being organized - that when it's not - it tends to bug me :) but, I'm not willing to take on the task to organize it - so, I deal with it!!! Jake had a good time - that's all that matters - he didn't care that we stood around for 45 minutes before it started!!!!! Or that they were asking for the eggs back once the kids took the stuff out of them.....is it me - or is that weird?????
Saturday afternoon while daddy mowed the yard - Jake and I went to the mall. I had promised him a new belt and tie to wear with his suit that we had bought a month or so ago (he had told me he wanted to wear that one instead of buying a new one)....well, that lasted until we got to the store and he saw all the other suits!!!!!! So, 1 new suit, belt and tie later - we leave the store...LOL.....I couldn't resist. The best thing about it all - the suit was 40% off......so, it was a steal! He was so excited - he wanted to wear it once we got home - but that was a no go!!!
Later in the day - Nana and Pop came over and they dyed the Easter eggs..........we only did 1 dozen and thank goodness - he was OVER it after about 5 eggs......however, they had a great time and then we had Chinese food (sorry Grammy - I know you would have LOVED to been here for it - we will do again real soon with you guys....in fact, Nana said "Grammy would be yelling at us if she knew that we were eating Chinese food)......
After Jake went to bed - mommy and daddy stuffed Easter eggs with candy and money and put his basket together......then we hid the eggs and went to bed.....
1:45 AM!!!!!!! Jake comes in our room "mommy - I think I saw Easter eggs from the bunny".....I'm thinking - OH NO!!! so, in my groggy state - I tell him that I don't think the Easter Bunny has been to our house yet - so lets go get back in bed and get back to sleep so he will hurry up and come.....luckily - he bought it and went back to sleep!!! Can you even imagine if we would have had to get up and hunt eggs at 1:45 AM~!!!!!!
Sunday morning - I wake up extra early to make sure I have plenty of time to get dressed before Jake wakes up to start his day and wouldn't you know it - he wakes up early!!!! I'm in the middle of blow drying my hair and he rounds the corner all excited to hunt his eggs!!! I mean, come on!!!LOL.....many of you know that blow drying your hair at an exact time (especially if you have natural curly hair ) is so important........but, being the mom that I am - I put my blow dryer down and went to hunt eggs.......15 minutes later - I go back to finish and whew - my hair is flat as a pancake....thank goodness for gel, glue, sticky stuff and hairspray!!!! LOL.....
We had breakfast - got dressed and make it there early for my rehearsal before service. God is good!
Church was great!!! Deniese, my sister, wrote an outstanding, practical, illustrated sermon about how Jesus accepts us with all of our "baggage". It doesn't matter what we struggle with - we can come to Jesus just like we are and he loves us in spite of our issues! It was amazing! People's lives were changed. That is what Easter is really all about. Our church was packed! 1133 people - children's church was beyond packed........love, love, love it!!!
I have been talking to Jake all week about what Easter is really all about - it's so funny to watch a little child try to understand Jesus dying and raising from the dead.....he could not figure it out.......it comes with time and teaching - but, he will get it.....he knows that Jesus lives in his heart - so he was so confused when I told him that Jesus died on the cross and 3 days later - after being so stinky for three days - came out of his grave.........he asked me if he "stank" in his heart.....too cute!!!
Lunch at Nana's was delicious and the best part - I didn't have to cook it!!! LOL......We had so much food and it was so good (although I did hear that Grammy had dressing......I'm sad that I missed that!). Of course, the Easter bunny visited there too - so needless to say - Jake has more candy than he knows what to do with!
I hope that each of you had a blessed weekend. God has been so good to all of us - we are so blessed.
Love to all

glad you all had such a great Easter. I'm with you, plastic eggs are CHEAP, buy new ones next yea - goofy!
We were in Macy's a week ago and caught their suits 40% off so Timo got a really pretty one as well. He was actually planning on just wearing slacks with a new shirt and tie.
Loved looking at the picture.
Sounds like yall had a great weekend. I am so glad for the memories that you and Mark make for Jake. Yes we are so Blessed!
Tootsie was so right, I would have been yelling at yall for having the BEST chinese food in the world that you get for us and me not being there. We were with Carla going all over Montgomery county looking for a restaurant to eat at that was not packed out on Saturday night. Should have known better than try at 7:00 P.M. but we finally found one in Magnolia, Kemah Seafood and it was pretty good, but not as good as the Chinese food would have been. HA
I love the pictures!
Love you,
Shirley
