please forgive me.....I have gotten wrapped up in day to day life and have totally slacked off....however, I promise to get better because I love to talk and share.......so, hopefully, it won't happen again.....
Let's see - what has happened since spring break? Not much exciting really - just day to day stuff. We did celebrate my nephew, Timo's, 14th birthday party. It was in Willis, Texas, out on the water.......beautiful place that Vicki and Tremayne have - the weather could have participated a little more - but over all - it was great. The kids played outside and the adults talked and laughed at all the crazy kido's. Jake had a great time -although - I thought I was going to have to tie him to my side because he wanted to follow Trent around nonstop - of course it's because Trent plays the drums -so he is super IMPORTANT to Jake.
Jake has to have ANOTHER prescription in his glasses. I blogged a while back about having to go and get new glasses because Jake broke them - well, bought those and now, 2 months later at his normal check up - she decides that he needs a stronger prescription...........ok - are you just looking for money lady??? ahahahaha. Mark said she sees a sucker when I walk in because I agree to everything -but I'm like - hey - if he needs them - he needs them............luckily this time -we have eye insurance.....this being after we spent $1000 last year on him........live and learn right?
My job is going great - still loving it. Had to make a tough call the other day - I've decided not to work at all during the summer........I think it will work best with Jake's schedule. Believe me - I tried to make it work where I could still go into the office (I know, that sounds SOOO selfish) but, it doesn't really make sense to do that. He will attend some sort of schooling during the summer- but not all day long and not every day of the week. It is for the best for me not to work - but......................
I was going to put Jake in a Mothers Day out program this summer - but I think the school is going to recommend Summer school for him......I actually think this is a better bet for him because he will continue to learn and continue to practice on the areas that he is challenged at. It is not everyday - 4 days a week and 3 hours a day...........he would get 3 weeks out of school at the beginning of the summer and then 2 weeks off in July and then 2 or 3 weeks before school starts in august - so a total of 6 weeks of Summer school (I think)......Mark is really for this - I am too - but hesitant because i want him to enjoy the summer too - however, I think he will be able to do both.
Our ARD meeting (a meeting with the school when you have a child with special needs) will be coming up in May. They have been doing his 3 year evaluation - basically to tell us where he ranks and how far behind he might be. Some of their ratings are strange - not going to get into that right now - it's just a title and I'm not sure that I want Jake to be labeled just for services.....so, we'll see. mark will definitely have to go to that meeting with me - especially if they come back with a ranking that I disagree with (like ADHD - not that there is anything wrong with that - but just because he can't focus more than 10 minutes at a time - doesn't mean he needs medication!!!). Luckily - his pediatrician will have to sign off on that because it would be a medical thing - so we are just going to wait and see - I'm not going to stress out about it now. This is only the beginning - we've got 12 years of this!!! lol
Ok - that about brings us up todate. My new favorite song is "the more I seek you" by Kari Jobe - love her!!! She is such a great praise and worship leader....wow - the presence is strong when she is singing. If you've never heard of her - youtube her - you'll see some great songs.
Love to all
Karen

Missed your blogging while you were being lazy.....HA I know you were not and are not lazy as there is not a lazy bone in your body. You are too much like your dad in that respect and that is a GOOD trait. Hope everything works out okay with Jake and I know it will! He is so smart in so many ways and I am sure one day he will be right on target. We sure can't complain as God has brought him a mighty long ways and he does so good! Popsie and I love that kid and he is so cute and fun to be around. I wish I lived closer so I could be of help too you more than I get to be. Although he is definetly a Popsie boy!
love you,
Shirley
