Busy week

Hey everyone - hope your weekend was blessed! We, once again, had OUTSTANDING church. Special guest was there this weekend and once again, our church was rocked! I can't wait to see what 2009 has in store for New Covenant Church.

This week is going to pass by in a blur! Today I have off because of the holiday - so I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row (hard to do with a 5 year old wanting to play church and band all day :)) I'm hosting a baby shower at my house on Saturday, plus Jake is in his first wedding this weekend....too funny!

My neighbor, Misty, is having her first baby - due March 1st. I'm hosting a neighborhood shower (bunch) at my house on Saturday at 11:00.....I'm so excited - I love to host parties. I'm going to try and go to Target today to get her gift, then to party city to buy all the plate ware.....all this running with Jake.......hum, not sure that is wise. I'm going to serve rotisserie chicken salad with grapes and pecans in it - croissants, mock champagne punch (basically fruit juice and sprite) salad, strawberries dipped in chocolate and either a fruit tray or veggie tray - haven't decided). There is also going to be a GREAT cake that my neighbor, Robyn, is in charge of. We are playing a game that we played at my sister, Kristi's baby shower - where you cover the name of the baby food and pass the jar around - you have to smell the jar and try to determine the name of the food - who ever gets the most - wins a prize. I like this game because it's not too hooky - I'm not a big game player - so this one is perfect!

I will work Tuesday - Thursday, then after work each day - I will come home and clean my house. Friday - I will pick up my sister Paulette from her doctor's appointment (or minor surgery) and run her home - then I will go to the grocery store for the food for Saturday, then I will come home - pick up Jake from school - then he has rehearsal for the wedding at 5:00 - then the dinner - then he goes to Nana's to spend the night because daddy has to work on Saturday during the shower and there is no way, I repeat, NO WAY, that Jake can be at the shower on Saturday morning because he will be trying to have church or a band concert with all the ladies!! Can you even imagine!!!!!!

Then, once the shower is over, Jake has to be at the wedding at 4:30 for pictures.........my husband is a little nervous about Jake being in this wedding because you never know what Jake is going to do..............take for instance yesterday at church. I'm on the platform with my sister Deniese, we are getting ready to sing for the offering....Pastor Mazz is making announcements and people are getting ready to give in the offering - when all of a sudden - out of the corner of my eye - I notice that Jake has come through the choir doors and is WALKING IN FRONT OF THE PLATFORM - DURING CHURCH!!!!! this of course, is during the 11:00 service - which is our largest service and, to top it off - we have a guest speaker!!!! Ok - I'm in slow motion trying to get off platform, doing hand signals at Jake to get back - he of course, is giving me hand signals - like - I need to talk to you - my brother-in-law, Glenn is attempting to grab his arm- all the while - Jake is still walking in front of Pastor Mazz.......so, Pastor Mazz stops and says "oh - don't worry about him - that is baby Jake - he is just passing through....give me a high five Jake" -to which of course, Jake gets a big grin on his face and stops to give Pastor Mazz a high five!!!!! Then, my sister Carla - sitting on the other side on the front row - promptly grabs him!!!!! Now, I'm up to sing giving him the evil eye and trying to figure out why in the world he is in the big sanctuary!!! too funny. It always happens to me when I'm on the platform and can't get to him. My husband goes to the 9:00 - Jake never does this when he can get him - always when I'm there by myself (so, you are beginning to understand why my husband is a little nervous about Saturday~!!! LOL). When I got down from the platform - I asked Jake what in the world he was doing - and he told me that he couldn't find his bible and was coming in the sanctuary to tell me to get off the platform to help him find it!!!!!

Needless to say - I'm sitting close to the front at the wedding in case he heads for the pulpit or the drums!!!!! He is going to be the bible carrier - he informed me that I needed to tell Matt (the groom) that he (Jake) would carry the bible down front - but then he was sure that he was going to need to sit down (Jake saying this - like he is grown!!!). I'm worried........LOL

I'll be sure and take pictures of Jake at the wedding. He is wearing tails....how cute is that! He is so excited about wearing a tuxedo and "dress shoes" as he calls them. should be a hoot!!!

Scripture for today - Romans 8:16 (Contemporary English Version) "God's spirit makes us sure that we are his children.". This is how I read it: " God's spirit makes me sure that I am his child!"

Be blessed -
k
