ok - let me just tell you that I had no idea how much I talked until I couldn't do it for 3 whole days!!!!! And, I also never realized how much we use our tongue.....bear with me - I know that is a little bizarre - but, this weekend, I must have eaten something that I was highly allergic too because - man, it tore my tongue up.....now, this posting might be a little bizarre - but my life is sometimes bizarre - so hang in there.................
I have always had what they call geographic tongue - you can look it up on the Internet - it's no big deal - occasionally, if you eat something with too much acid or too many nuts or spices, it will cause your tongue to break out and look like a road map - hence the name - geographic!! However, this past weekend - I had huge blisters all along the side of my tongue and under it too - so, I either had something that I was allergic too or it had so much acid in it - that my senses went haywire!!!! My tongue was 2 sizes larger than normal and every time I tried to talk - it was extremely painful...........bright side of this mess - I love 7 pounds in 3 days because I couldn't eat or drink anything~!!!!! On Monday and Tuesday I went to work - it was hysterical - talking with a mouth full of mush - finally - I told them that I couldn't answer the phone anymore -they were going to have to do it............by Tuesday - I went to the Nurse Practitioner at our local CVS and I cracked up when she saw my tongue because she did a double take!!!! It was funny!! She did tell me that the tongue basically has to heal itself - if however, within 7 to 10 days it wasn't better - I needed to go to the doctor........uh DUH!!!
I went to a CVS that had a Pharmacist that I knew from my church and ask her what I could possible take or do and she gave me some mouth wash that was basically a higher dose of hydrogen peroxide and some Oral Gel Paste.....the paste vs. the gel was the kicker...........man - that stuff worked like a charm......so, on Wednesday - I stayed home from work and kept my mouth dosed up with oral gel and talked to no one.....my husband called me from work and all he got was uh huh about 15 times.......
Today - I woke up and wha la - I could talk....it's not totally gone - I still have a little lisp - but for the most part - I'm good..............if I could pinpoint what I ate that did that to my tongue - let me tell you - I would stay so far away - whew.........
isn't this all bizarre??? This would only happen to me....I'm just glad it wasn't something serious.........
Today I had lunch (first lunch in 4 days!!!) with my blended family. My sister, Vicki and her husband Tremayne, Micah, Chelsea, Timo, Scott, Grammy, me and Jake. My brother-in-law, Tremayne Simoneaux, was leaving at 4:30 for Africa. They are missionaries and he left prior to my sister - she has 5 more weeks. They have lived over there for quite a while - it is their life. I come to you and ask that you add them to your prayer list for a whole year - just mention their name in your daily prayers - i would appreciate it. They have some personal issues they are dealing with right now - it's not my place to lay it all out for you - but if you could lift this family up and just keep them in your prayers this year - I would appreciate it. Matthew 18: 19 NIV: "Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven." And, for those who don't know them and don't know how to pronounce their name - it sounds like Sim Ma Know (Vicki will laugh at this!)
Love to all - be blessed.

ok, so you had the ability to make me laugh and cry all in one post. We are way more alike than we even knew HA . I also have a geographical tongue (gross I know) I loved it that Jake wanted us all to look at your tongue today. Thanks so much for taking time to do lunch with us - FUN send off for Tremayne. Wow, thanks for the call to prayer. YES, we need some answers from God! Love ya!
Karen Kay, you are our CRAZY daughter, well one of them since we only have wait I have to count........ 7 LOL, sorry Scott and Kelly you two almost got left out......No wonder you two are the spoiled ones, well maybe next to the baby of the bunch, Kristi.
You still sounded pretty bad to me today I can't even imagine how miserable you must have been. WOW
I guess I didn't know you had the geograpical tongue until this happend. Vicki was real small when she had her first flair up and I bout died thought I had not been sterilizing her bottles and Pacifiers long enough as she was that young when I noticed her tongue it looked gross.
Sure did enjoy seeing you and Jake today. He is my little stinker even though he really does love his Popsie the most.
love,
Shirley
